Extradition &
Civil Recovery Webinar
Sponsored by - Gherson Solicitors
In this webinar, we look back at the extradition requests from the Russian Federation, and the successful challenges which have been brought.
There have been a broad range of issues which have been raised under articles 3 & 6, yet despite these setbacks, the requests still keep coming, with new and innovative measures attached. We review the arguments raised, and how to resist the requests.

In some cases, extradition requests are made in tandem with other lines of attack, such as applications for restraint, and other investigative measures.
Civil proceedings can be pursued simultaneously, and the UK state may also be involved through its own powers to seek civil recovery and/or Unexplained Wealth Orders. We therefore review how these have been utilised, both in the context of extradition proceedings, as well as applications in their own right.

Looking to the future, the panel, which includes two leading specialists in this field, James Lewis QC and Hugo Keith QC, will also consider what we might expect to see developing, and what preventative steps can be taken for clients who may find themselves under the spotlight.
